Horas Medan =)

Wao... It's been so  fast, our uni re-open again lo.... Got to go back to study life again....

So..... Why I didn't stop working in the end of August like what mostly others do? As, my sister have booked flight to medan for 4D3N few months ago... Hehe!!! We want to go Bali at first, but da jie went there before, so we got to choose other place. Then da jie friend recommended Medan to us, thus, began of our trip here.

The trip was very very relax. The lifestyle in medan or should I say Indonesians have a more relaxing lifestyle. This can be proven by the way they walk, the way they drive... There is one interesting thing, on the road you can see the people actually drive following the way they like it. Their way of driving is very funny but I sincerely salute their driving skills. You will know when you experience it yourself.

There were a total of five of us - 3 elder sisters, mum and I.
Air Asia - Everyone can fly =)
1st time we took flight, so excited =P

Lake Toba - really pretty
The scene just outside our room in 1st night

Batak house - mostly Batak population in lake toba
The carved thingy in museum - they really have nice artworks
 Batak house too..
Some of the hotels which located by lakeside get to use the lake as swimming pool.
You can see how clear the water is
Actually I wonder why the lake is so clean, as lake water is not moving,
and so where the sampah goes?

This place, if not mistaken is called Tomok village.
Where it is a historical place.
See what I take in my hand and guess what was I doing?
Yup...
This was the place for death penalty of Batak people
The execution was very cruel
First they sent the culprit to another stone (miss the pic)
The culprit had to lean on the stone
then the executor will make some cuts on the culprit body
and they pour lemon juice on the wound
then only they sent the culprit to this stone
and chopped his head.
Lastly the king will drink the blood and the eat the heart of the culprit-they believed by doing so the king will gain more power
and the head of the culprit would be hang on the village to prove that they had been executed.
So cruel... yakss...
Then went jalan jalan in market
Boat to Samusir Island - island surrounded by lake toba..

We went to Samosir Island by another type of boat, which can carry cars along.
Like the ferry we have in Penang, but it is smaller.

The kids there are all experts in swimming, they can just jump into the lake and play in the water. We were quite shock when we saw them jump inside the lake, as it is very deep and none of us will dare to jump inside like them.
Our hotel (forgot the name)

Then we went to berastagi on 3rd day.
The place is quite cold especially during raining day.
It is just like cameron highland,
There sell many fruit which grow in cold area like strawberry, corn......

The view from our room, really nice

Five of us... Bought the same shirt =)

We stop at some attraction place on the way to brastagi,
Hot spring - just RM 3 per entry, and it was my first time.. like it so much... can be very relaxing
Sispiso Waterfall

The scenery is very very pretty... We took many photos here.

As our driver is a Muslim, and thus we had to wait him buka puasa 1st, then only he fetched us to dinner.

And thus, maybe we were too hungry
and every dinner we had was taste so delicious.... haha!!!

We did went a chinese restoran really not bad,
and went the local food stalls beside the road ( that meal should be the food that I am actually like, as we want to try local food which is more special la... )

We were actually going around Medan town on the last day.
Too bad I forgot all the name of the places...
As it was almost one month before... lolx...

So... Um.. Medan town for me is just okok....
Lake Toba & Berastagi are better places for vacation.
But you also have to take a flight to medan la...
UM... nice place =)

More photos can be found in my sister photo album
horas medan =)

陀飞轮

从来没有post过歌词,因为很少听歌。最近有人极力推荐这首歌,真的很不错,歌词真的很贴切。 听听看吧!!!

歌词: 陈奕迅 - 陀飞轮

作曲 : Vincent Chow

填词:黄伟文
编曲 : Gary Tong
监制 : Alvin Leong

4 months holiday

I am officially starts my university 2nd year holiday now.
=)
What I did during this period?
Yes, working have occupied more than half.
And, unbelievable, I promise my boss to be a part-timer when my school reopen.
Um... I don't know why?
The paid is low,
but I will help him at least one semester la..
Hopefully, I can handle it.

If you ask me, are you enjoy your holiday?
The answer should be OKAY lo... haha!!
For me,
The most right choice I make was joining 2 camps
and there is another 1 coming soon.
The 1st camp I was KDM (Kem Dhamma Mandarin)
I am so glad to be there,
There is the place where  I find myself again,
and there is the place which initiated me to join the 2nd camp.
Actually I am always a serious girl,
most of my friends know it, right?
I should say, most of my friends who worked with me before will know it.
Then, the 1st camp did change my style in 2nd camp.
Haha!!! Nice...
But, I should say sorry to my faci in KDM,
as I was too aggressive to learn in that camp.
They are so GREAT, Thanks =)

Then I started my working life,
First, I worked in an air-cond wholesale shop.
The reason I quit was the place is too hot.
Then I did work some part time,
ENFRAGROW promoter.
4 days,
It is a very easy job, but we have to stand for whole day,
they are actually running on project
so I just manage to join 4days.

What's next?
My current job = CARESMART salesgirl.
Actually we are new shop, and many people still don't know the existence of us.
There is totally no customer in afternoon time
So 4 of us jz sit in a line and talking non-sense.
We can read book / read papers,
but the worst is the time passed very slow.
After I read the whole papers
the time is still early.
Really boring some of the time
And my sisters keep nagging at me
said
I just learn to WASTE money in this job.
I got the same feeling too...
Too bad.
So now, I stop the work lo...
And hehe!!!1 Officially starts my holiday.... =)

Ooopss....
Yup, my bf did come to find me few times during this holiday.
He drove here every time and I know he will be verytired
and he came by bus at the last time.
Tired too, but at least better.
Thank you dear. =)

During this holiday
Got outing with family, friends, and boyfriend too...
So by right, my holiday is quite enjoy :-p

Monk Mind: How to Increase Your Focus

Monk Mind: How to Increase Your Focus

Post written by Leo Babauta.

I confess to being as prone to the distractions of the Internet as anyone else: I will start reading about something that interests me and disappear down the rabbit hole for hours (even days) at a time.

But my ability to focus on a single task has dramatically improved, and that one habit has changed my life.

While a few years ago I couldn't sit down to work on something without quickly switching to email or one of my favorite Internet forums or sites, today I can sit down and write. I can clear away distractions, when I set my mind to it, and do one thing. And that changes everything: you lose yourself in that task, become so immersed that you pour everything you have into the work, and it becomes a meditative, transformative experience. Your happiness increases, stress goes down, and work improves.

I know that lots of people have trouble focusing one one task for very long, and so I thought I'd share a few things that have worked for me.

Focus Best Practices

There is no one way to find focus, but what works for me is to clear everything away and create a little space of tranquil focus. Some tips for doing that:

  • Close the browser and your email program. If you need to work in the browser then make sure no tabs or windows are open other than the one you absolutely need.
  • Turn off all notifications. Trying to focus while something is notifying you of an incoming email or tweet or Facebook update is impossible.
  • Turn off the Internet. Shut off your connection, unplug your router, or best yet, go to a place where the is no Internet (yes, those still exist). This is the absolute best way to find focus.
  • Close all programs and windows other than what you need for this one task.
  • Have a very important task to do. Not just "check email" but "write chapter in my novel" or "write that kick-ass blog post I've been planning" or "write that new Android app".
  • Clear your desk. No need to spend all day on this — shove everything in a drawer or put it in a box to be sorted later. Don't fiddle with this now. In fact, don't fiddle with anything — don't worry about the perfect setup or perfect notebook for writing or the perfect anything.
  • Plug in the headphones. If you have people around who might distract you, wearing headphones and playing some good, peaceful music is perfect.
  • Use a simple program. For writing, I like plain text editors (TextEdit, TextWrangler) or writing programs that block everything out (OmmWriter, WriteRoom). No distractions.

Once you have this environment (and you shouldn't spend more than a few minutes setting it up), get going on your task. Do nothing but that one task. Don't switch to another task. Having trouble doing that? Read on.

How to Increase Your Focus Abilities

If you can't focus on one task for very long, don't worry. That's normal. Our brains have been trained by technology and society to switch tasks often.

One way we've been trained is that switching to check email or blog updates or Facebook/Twitter is rewarding — we are rewarded with a little nugget of satisfaction in that someone has sent us a message (social validation!) or we have something new and interesting to read (shiny and bright!). Switching tasks becomes a positive feedback cycle that is hard to beat by single-tasking.

The way to beat that is to set up a positive feedback cycle for focusing. Here's how:

  1. Start small. You only need to focus for one minute at first. Clear everything away, pick your one important task, and just do it for one minute without switching. This is hard to do in the beginning but if you consciously focus on focusing, you can do it. It's just a minute.
  2. Reward yourself. The reward for focusing for one minute can be one minute (or 30 seconds) of checking whatever you want. Email, Facebook, whatever. Or get up and take a one-minute walk. Stretch, drink some water, massage your neck, enjoy your small victory. Empires are created with small victories.
  3. Repeat. Keep doing one minute focus, one minute reward (or 1 minute to 30 seconds if you like) for about half an hour (15 of each). You're done. Repeat that later in the day. Rejoice in how much work you got done! And notice how you've set up a positive feedback cycle for focusing.
  4. Increase in small steps. Tomorrow, make it two minutes on, one minute off. Repeat that for 30 minutes, do it later in the day too. Feel free to go wild and do three focus sessions in a day if you like, but it's not necessary.
  5. Keep taking baby steps. I think you can see the pattern by now. Make it three minutes on, one minute off on the third day, then 4:1, then 5:1. When you get to 10 minutes, be crazy and take a 2 minute break. When you get to 20 minutes, take a 3 minute break. At 30 minutes of focus, you've earned a 5 minute break. And once you're at 30 minutes, you can stay there. No need to become a monk.

Set up a positive feedback cycle for single-tasking focus and you'll reverse the years of training your mind has gotten to switch tasks. You'll get more important work done, and it won't seem hard. You'll find that focus becomes a form of meditation. It's a beautiful, beautiful thing, and you can thank me by sending me a craft beer from your hometown.
